General Information
In order to keep the process as straightforward as possible, I work only from
photographs, so there is no need for anyone to sit for hours while I draw or
paint. This makes it easy to commission a portrait of a child or a favourite
pet without worrying how you are going to keep them still!
The best photographs to send me are clear, colour pictures taken in a good light.
I will ask you to send me several photographs of the subject, so that I have
a sense of the person or pet in three dimensions. If you are based in
the UK and would like me to take photos for you, then please contact me to discuss
this further. Otherwise, high quality photographs can be sent to me either digitally
(email) or by post either as prints or on a CD.
If you have old black and white family or historic photographs, even very old
daguerreotype or sepia tinted pictures, these can also be used as the basis
for a portrait or painting. The process needs a little more discussion
and so can take longer, but if this is something that interests you, please
contact me for further details.
Your portrait can be in full colour or black and white (graphite).
Please specify which medium you prefer.
All colour portraits are produced using pastel pencils and
soft pastel on heavy pastel paper or board (depending on the size required).
Monochrome pictures are drawn in graphite on heavy cartridge paper.
Caricatures are hand drawn, scanned and any finishing touches
or colour is added using graphics software with the final picture being a combination
of art and modern technology!
If you are considering a commission and would like to talk to me, please email
me with details of your requirement and I will try to reply within 24 hours.
If you would prefer to speak to me, please include your (UK) telephone number
in your email and let me know when would be the best time for me to reach you.
After I have received your photos, and agreed the details and price with you
- and once you have given me the go-ahead - I will begin work on your picture
(the usual time to complete a picture is 4-6 weeks, depending on the time of
year).
As your portrait nears completion, you will be allocated a personal web page
so that you can view the picture online - I will email you the link as soon
as your picture is ready to be viewed. When you have seen the picture
and confirmed that you are happy with it, you send your payment to me and I
send your portrait (and return any printed photographs) to you. It's
that simple!
All prices and sizes are available on enquiry - please email me with details of your requirement in order to receive a quote.
